After graduating from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1985 with a B.A. degree in History, Jackie Joyner-Kersee went on to build one of the most illustrious athletic careers in the world of track and field. But don't try to classify this multifaceted young woman. "I don't consider myself one dimensional. I strive to be a 'Jackie of all trades' I am an individual who has accomplished a great deal through athletics."

Accomplish is an understatement. She currently owns the top five marks on the All Time List in the U.S. Women's long jump competition, and has not lost a completed Heptathlon since the 1984 Olympics where she brought home the Silver Medal. She currently holds the World Record in the Heptathlon (7,291).
Jackie has "racked up" over 18 records in various events and over 24 recognition awards including the Sullivan Award, the most prestigious amateur athletic award in the sports world. She was also the recipient of the St. Louis Ambassadors Sportswoman of the Year and Sporting News Athlete of the Year awards -- the first woman to be honored with either of these awards - and honored by the Athletic Congress by being the first athlete to consecutively receive the Jessie Owens Memorial Award.

"You could say I was born with a will to compete," says Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee (JJK), three time Olympic Gold Medallist, "but what most people don't understand about me is that I'm concentrating my energies on myself and not my competition - I'm constantly striving to improve myself in whatever I do and remain committed."

Jackie brings this same commitment, versatility, and sense of accomplishment to everything she does. As a way of giving back to the community that has supported her, she created the JJK Community Foundation, which supports the development of leadership programs in urban areas across the United States.

The world recognizes Jackie's athletic prowess as the greatest in the world. What they don't know is that Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee excels - and will soon dominant - in another arena: Sports Marketing. As President/founder of JJK & Associates, Inc., Jackie gets to flex her savvy business mind as she leads her company in providing top quality services for her clients.

Born March 3, 1962 in East St. Louis, Illinois, Jackie is the second of four children born to Alfred and Mary Joyner. "We didn't have a lot in terms of material things but we always had love.' It's this same love that motivates her to give 100% of herself in everything she does.

In 1998, Jackie began the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation as a grant making organization supporting her Gold Medal Scholarship program. The organizations mission statement is "To ptovide youth, adults and families with the resources to improve their quality of life and to enhance communities worldwide , with special attention directed to East St. Louis Illinois." The centers impact on her hometown and surrounding communities has been considerable, and, in her mind, a key ingredient in the developement of her own character.

Ask Jackie what her limits are, and she'll say she has none, and that the only person who can stop her from achieving her goal of motivating and educating both young and old on what achieving goals is really all about - is her!
